SOLAR DECATHLON AT
UC BERKELEY / UNIVERSITY OF DENVER
Welcome. We are a group of UC Berkeley and University of Denver students who are constructing a sustainable, net-zero home.
Our team is competing in the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2017 with a house that embodies our name, "RISE."

The U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon is a collegiate competition of 10 contests that challenge student teams to design and build full-size, solar-powered houses. The winner of the competition is the team that best blends design excellence and smart energy production with innovation, market potential, and energy and water efficiency.

A HOME WITH A PURPOSE
From the start, our end goal has been to build a house for more than just a competition. We are building a home that aims to meet the needs of Richmond, California, a rapidly growing city located just outside of San Francisco. Working with input from the community and in Richmond High Schools, we have gotten to know the area and are thrilled that the house will be donated to the Richmond Community Foundation after the competition.
A JOINT EFFORT
We are the first-ever student lead team from UC Berkeley in a perfect partnership with University of Denver students in the Burns School of Real Estate and Construction Management within the Daniels College of Business. As the only team entering with a school from Colorado, we are excited to compete on home turf for the competition in October in Denver.
